Aculab plc is a leading supplier of computer telephony components and
systems, with offices in the USA, Germany, and Australia, as well as R&D and
production sites in Milton Keynes, in the UK. We currently have two
vacancies in our TTS team, as follows.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Speech Synthesis DSP Engineer
----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Aculab's speech synthesis system is designed for telephony applications, and
offers high quality, naturalness, computational efficiency, and rapidly
increasing language coverage. To maintain our leading position in this
expanding market, we require an engineer to continually improve speech
quality, and to reduce the time-to-market for new languages and voices.
These tasks will involve development of new high-performance algorithms,
both for the synthesis itself and for the initial data preparation.

The successful candidate will have several years of experience in speech
signal processing, with a good knowledge of the state-of-the-art in speech
synthesis. They should be proficient in C++ (or at least C) and have a solid
grounding in DSP theory and practice.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------
-----------------
Software Engineer (TTS)
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
-----------------

This vacancy offers a skilled and experienced software engineer the
opportunity to work on an industry-leading implementation of a fascinating
technology. Aculab's Text-to-Speech development team comprises globally
respected researchers, linguists and software engineers. The team has
developed an entirely proprietary system that is already meeting with high
regard and success, and the wealth of planned enhancements leaves us
requiring another software engineer.

The successful candidate will ideally have 5 years industrial experience in
C and C++; experience or knowledge of network programming (TCP/IP, sockets,
etc) and multithreaded programming; experience of programming for both
Microsoft and UNIX environments. Prior knowledge of speech synthesis is not
necessary, but the ability to grasp new concepts is essential.
