assistant professor who specializes in the syntax/semantics interface
and language acquisition. A Ph.D. in linguistics with a focus on
lexically or construction driven grammar and acquisition is required.
Field research and/or experimental methods associated with 1st or 2nd
language acquisition are preferred. Ability and experience in teaching
both introduction to linguistics and Second Language Acquisition theory
and methods, with a demonstrated record in teaching and scholarship.
Responsibilities include introductory linguistics, semantics, functional
syntax and introduction to
the theory and practice of second language acquisition and contributing
to the departments developing BA in linguistics. Exact assignment is
dependent upon department needs and background of individual.
Candidates should be knowledgeable about and interested in working with
California's diverse student population. As a university that educates
students of various ethnic and cultural backgrounds, we value a diverse

possible. Appointment will be at the assistant professor level.
