The Department of Foreign Languages at West Virginia University is
seeking candidates for a tenure-track position in Linguistics with
specialization in Syntax at the rank of Assistant Professor. Also
desired is expertise in Psycholinguistics, Semantics, and other
related areas. This is a full-time nine-month appointment that begins
August 16, 2001.
Requirements include the Ph.D. or equivalent in Linguistics, with
expectation that the degree is in hand by appointment date; evidence
of scholarly orientation and promise of establishing an active
research and publication record; excellence in teaching; and native or
near-native fluency in English; and knowledge of a second
language. The successful candidate will be committed to contributing
to general education, undergraduate, and graduate teaching missions of
the Department; she or he will be expected to teach undergraduate and
graduate courses in our Linguistics and TESOL programs, advise
students, and guide student research.
