The Program in Linguistics at the University of Texas at Arlington
solicits applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor in
Linguistics (pending final administrative approval).

Candidates should exhibit primary research interest and expertise in
the areas of Discourse Analysis (primarily text analysis) and
Computational Linguistics (primarily corpus management), with
secondary interests in either sociolinguistics, language variation, or
quantitative analysis of language data. Experience in a fieldwork
setting, particularly in the context of a non-Indo-Euorpean language,
is required. Applicants should have earned a Ph.D. in linguistics (or
a closely related discipline) by May 2001 and be prepared to begin
employment in August 2001. Duties include teaching graduate courses
and supervising masters- and doctoral-level research.
