Language & Computing nv (http://www.landc.be), active in multi-lingual
medical natural language understanding, has the following 2 positions
available:
Job 1: Computational Linguist/Programmer
We require a computational linguist with experience in Semantic
Analysis, to support the task of automatic syntactic/semantic analysis
using a wide-coverage grammar. The applicant should also have
experience in most of the following areas:
* Experienced in either functional formalisms (e.g., Systemic
Functional Linguistics) or dependency formalisms.
* Knowledge of Flemish (or other germanic languages) is a plus, but
not necessary.
* Experience with descriptive logics (KL-ONE, etc.) for semantic
analysis.
* Some programming experience is necessary, and experience with any of
C, C++, Lisp, or Java is an advantage (or a willingness to learn).
We are seeking candidates at the post-doctoral level, preferably with
project experience. Those without doctorate but with strong project
experience will also be considered. Renumeration will be in line with
experience.
Job 2: Linguist/Computational Linguist
We require a computational linguist (or computer-able linguist) to aid
in the development of a wide-coverage dependency grammar of Flemish.
Experience of either Systemic-Functional grammars, dependency
grammars, or lexicalised approaches (e.g., LTAGS, LFG) will be an
advantage. Some ability with Flemish is also preferred.
Applicants should have an undergraduate degree majoring in
Linguistics, or equivalent experience. Doctoral students and
post-doctoral researchers are also welcome to apply. Renumeration
will be in line with experience.
