AT&T Labs Research is seeking a full-time researcher specializing in
LEXICAL SEMANTICS or COMPUTATIONAL LEXICOGRAPHY with an interest in
CORPUS-BASED METHODS for inferring semantic information. A Ph.D. in
linguistics, computational linguistics, computer science or a related
field is required. The position will be in the Human/Computer
Interaction Research department at the AT&T Labs Shannon Laboratory in
Florham Park, New Jersey, approximately 45 minutes from New York City.

The candidate will be working on a new project on text-to-scene
conversion. Some details of this project can be found at
http://www.research.att.com/~rws/wordseye.html. The main
responsibilities will include developing lexicons and models of
lexical representation to support graphical interpretation of natural
language, as well as working on methods to derive such information
from corpora. In addition, it is expected that the candidate will
contribute to other Natural Language projects being undertaken at the
Labs.
