BRIEF DETAILS:
Applications are invited for TWO new Junior Fellowships in the Faculty
of Arts.
These two appointments will be made in any of the following Departments
and Research Centres:
Archaeology; Classics and Ancient History; Drama: Theatre, Film,
Television (Practice as Research in Performance Media; Contesting
Histories in Performance Media identity, memory, culture, heritage);
English; French; German (The Age of Goethe; History of the GDR);
Hispanic, Portuguese and Latin American Studies (Post-Colonial Studies);
Historical Studies (modern British history, colonialism, medieval
history, history of social and economic thought); History of Art;
Italian (Renaissance studies, Twentieth Century studies, Italian
linguistics); Music (Music Theory and Analysis); Philosophy (Philosophy
of Science); Russian; Theology and Religious Studies; The Centre for
Buddhist Studies; The Centre for Comparative Studies in Religion and
Gender; The Centre for Maritime Archaeology and
History; The Centre for Medieval Studies; The Centre for the Study of
Visual and Literary Cultures in France (preferably post-1800 or in word
and image theory).
The Fellows will be expected to undertake research in their specialist
area and to contribute to the research activities of the host
Department and the Faculty. Some undergraduate teaching (up to 4 hours
per week) may be expected.
Successful candidates will normally be expected to have been awarded
their Ph.D. before taking up the post. It is anticipated
that the Fellows will be in post no later than January 2001. Salary
will be in the range £16,775 - £18,731 p.a.
