UNIVERSITY OF LONDON JACOBSEN FELLOWSHIPS IN PHILOSOPHY Applications are
invited for up to two Jacobsen Fellowships in Philosophy tenable at the
University of London from 1 October 2001 for a maximum period of two years.
The Fellowship has been established from a gift by Mr J A B Jacobsen, and
is offered for research in Philosophy in the general field of 'The Personal
and Impersonal Character of Life in the Universe and the Human Person'.
(The research topics of former Fellows have included the following:
'Philosophical Issues in Psychology and Psychiatry', 'Universals and
Particulars', 'Philosophy and Language in Classical India', 'Time, Mind and
Memory', 'Feminist Questions in Epistemology', and 'Anti-realism in the
Philosophy of Mathematics'.) Fellowships are normally held postdoctorally.
The stipend of the Fellowship is currently valued at £15,873 (including a
London Allowance of £2,134). (This figure excludes superannuation costs,
which will be met). Applications must be submitted at the latest by 26
February 2001 on the prescribed form which may be obtained, together with
