The Edify Natural Language Research Group, Edinburgh, has full-time openings
for both experienced professionals and talented recent graduates with
expertise
in any of the following areas:
* Spoken dialogue systems
* Natural language understanding
* Parsing techniques
* Knowledge representation and ontology development
* Machine learning and probabilistic modelling
Requirements:
* PhD or Masters in Computational Linguistics, Computer Science, Artifici
al
Intelligence, or related field.
* Programming experience in C/C++, Java, Prolog or Lisp.
* Excellent communication and problem solving skills, and enthusiasm for
working as part of a team.
Preferred qualifications:
* EU citizenship or work permit
* Interest and experience in system evaluation and in empirical methods o
f
research
* Familiarity with language resources and tools (grammars, lexicons,
corpora, taggers, etc)
The Edify Natural Language Research Group is located in the Leith area of
Edinburgh and enjoys strong cooperative links with the NLP and AI research
communities at the University of Edinburgh. Successful candidates will join a
growing team of researchers working closely together on robust and innovative
technology for intelligent natural language interfaces, using both spoken and
text-based interaction.
