Research Position at ZAS, Berlin

Applicants are invited for a full time research position in semantics
at the ZAS (Research Centre for General Linguistics, Typology, and
Universals; http://www.zas.gwz-berlin.de/) in Berlin from October 1,
2001 until December 31, 2002. There is a possibility for an extension
beginning on January 1, 2003.

Applicants should hold a Ph.D. or doctorate, or be very close to
finishing it. They should have a strong back-ground in formal and
lexical semantics (especially temporal adverbials, tense and
information structure) as well as in generative syntax.

The candidate is expected to conduct research in a project on the
compositional semantics of the C-domain (Rizzi 1997). The focus of the
project is on the analysis of temporal and locative frame setting
modifiers and their interaction with the topic comment structure of
the sentence.

The salary will be according to the normal range for researchers
("Wissenschaftliche Mitarbeiter"; BAT-O IIa) in Germany, with details
depending on the age and marital status of the applicant. Knowledge
of German is helpful but not required.

Applications should include a CV, the names of two references, sample
publications and a short statement outlining future research
plans. Applications and inquiries should be directed to:
