INRIA is an internationally recognized research institute in Computer
Science and Automation, funded by the French government. It seeks
outstanding candidates who have completed a Ph.D. (or equivalent) in
Computer Science, Signal and Image Processing, or Applied Mathematics.

6 Junior Researcher Positions are now open (deadline for submitting
application forms: March 20, 2001, 4:00 pm in research units, or by
registered mail, postmarked by midnight March 20, 2001) to French as
well as foreign applicants, at IRISA/INRIA laboratory which is located
in Rennes (Brittany, France).

Applicants should have a commitment to research and have some
expertise in the following areas:

- Computational Linguistics,
- Lexical Semantics,
- Information Extraction,
- Information Retrieval,
- Machine Learning for NLP

Candidates should add strengths to existing research directions,
contribute to the innovation and development of the research projects,
disseminate research results in major conferences and journals, and
lead technology transfer to R&D industrial partners. Responsabilities
also include graduate and undergraduate teaching and supervision of
graduate students through thesis and project work.

Openings may lead to permanent position after a period of 18 months.
