Graduiertenkolleg "Sprachliche Repräsentationen"
The doctoral program "Linguistic Representations and Their
Interpretation" (Graduiertenkolleg "Sprachliche Repräsentationen und
ihre Interpretation") at the University of Stuttgart, Germany, is
seeking applications for a postdoctoral position to work in the area
of generative syntax and/or semantics. The ideal candidate will have
research experience or strong interest in theoretical syntax. The
position is available for the period from 1 September 2001 through 30
April 2003; it will be extended to the maximum duration of 24 months
if and when the funding of the Graduiertenkolleg is extended beyond
April 2003.
The Graduiertenkolleg is a structured doctoral program in linguistics
and computational linguistics at the University of Stuttgart. It is a
cooperation between three institutes: the Institute of English
Linguistics (Institut für Linguistik/Anglistik); the Institute of
German Linguistics (Institut für Linguistik/Germanistik); and the
Institute of Natural Language Processing (Institut für Maschinelle
Sprachverarbeitung). Advanced seminars are offered every semester by
the three participating institutes.
The Kolleg as well as the postdoctoral position is funded by the
German Research Council (Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft, DFG). The
successful candidate will be expected to interact with the doctoral
students in the Kolleg and to offer them advice in his or her areas of
