Job offer for a young scientist
Short-term employment of 12 months, for a young scientist
The proposed work is part of an ongoing long-term research project
related to numerical treatment of acoustic signals. The general
goal of the project is to improve existing hearing aid devices.
Previous studies have shown that the performance of the hearing aids
could be improved if different sounds could be treated differently
according to their spectral content. In order to be able to apply
the specific treatments to different sound categories, an automatic
sound classification method is needed.
The proposed project is divided in two steps. During the first part, we
should determine the number of different sound classes for which a
different treatment is needed. During the second part, among the
previously defined sound classes, we will focus on the classes
corresponding to speech sounds, in order to treat them appropriately
for a better understanding of the speech through the hearing aid.
Period : Sept/Oct 2001 to Sept/Oct 2002
Salary : 15 kFFr per month.
Note : in order to promote international exchanges, the position is only
opened to non-French citizens, and is a 12 month non renewable offer.
