The Dept. of Linguistics and Languages at Michigan State University is
pleased to announce 2 Graduate Assistant positions in Cognitive
Science for the academic year 2003-2004. Students must be accepted
into both Ph.D. program in Linguistics and the Graduate Specialization
in Cognitive Science. Funding is available for 4 years subject to
continued satisfactory progress in both programs.
The Cognitive Science program has also recently received an NSF-funded
Integrated Graduate Education and Research Traineeship (IGERT) program
in cognitive science. The focus of the MSU IGERT program is the
interdisciplinary study of cognition in humans, animals, and
intelligent machines. Students in Linguistics are also encouraged to
apply to the IGERT program.
We invite applications from interested graduate students in
Linguistics, Psychology, Computer Science, Philosophy or other related
fields who would like to join an interdisciplinary group of cognitive
scientists to work of issues related to language.

The Linguistics Program also intends to hire a Computational Linguist
beginning Fall 2003.
Students will initially work with a faculty member in Cognitive
Science on independent research. Subsequent years of funding may
include teaching assistant duties for introductory courses.
Applications should be received no later than Jan. 10, 2003 to receive
full consideration for funding.
