The Department of Linguistics at Harvard University plans to make an
appointment at the level of Assistant Professor or untenured Associate
Professor in the area of syntactic theory. The initial contract will
be for five years, beginning July 1, 2003. Candidates must show
demonstrated promise of excellence in research and teaching at both
the undergraduate and graduate levels. Preference will be given to
applicants with a strong interest in one or more language areas or a
second specialization in a related subfield (e.g., semantics,
psycholinguistics, computational linguistics). Letters of
application, accompanied by a detailed curriculum vitae and three
confidential letters of recommendation, should be sent to Prof. C.-T.
James Huang. Applications will be processed as received, but should
arrive by December 10, 2002 to assure full consideration. Harvard
