Research Associate

The project will combine deep and shallow processing methods to develop
techniques for information extraction for business intelligence and for email
response. The role of the Research Associate will be to develop an approach
for integrating existing frameworks for deep and shallow processing via
semantic representation and to design and implement appropriate algorithms.
The position also involves some work on natural language generation, within
the context of an existing implementation, and support for multilingual
grammar development.The candidate must be capable of working with a high
degree of independence and will be required to represent the Cambridge group
in consortium meetings.

Qualifications and experience required:

PhD in Computational Linguistics. Further experience highly desirable,
especially in collaborative projects.You should be able to demonstrated broad
knowledge of natural language processing, including both deep and shallow
methodologies. Experience in information retrieval, named entity recognition,
machine learning, disambiguation, language generation, semantic analysis,
robust and deep parsing and logical representation techniques would be
particularly valuable.Ability to program in Common Lisp. C/C++, Perl, Prolog
also desirable. A working knowledge of Unix, Unix utilities etc is essential.
