The Center for Grammar, Cognition, and Typology (CGCT) at the
Department of Linguistics of the University of Antwerp announces a
vacancy for a predoctoral research fellow, to be appointed on January
1, 2003 or as soon as possible thereafter, and ending on December 31,
2006.

The appointee will participate in a large scale research project on
'Mood and Modality', funded by the Research Council of the University
of Antwerp. She or he will be expected to write a PhD dissertation
within the period of appointment, on a subject which fits within the
wider topic of the research project. We are looking for candidates who
are native speakers of English, German or Dutch, who have decent
knowledge of at least one other of these three languages (and
certainly of English), and who hold an MA (or an equivalent) in
Linguistics (general or language specific) or a related discipline.
Experience with research on syntax and semantics, and with either
corpus research or experimental research, will be considered an asset.
