Linguistics Program Director
The Division of Behavioral and Cognitive Sciences at the National
Science Foundation is seeking applicants for the position of Program
Director for Linguistics, to begin late spring, 2003. This rotational
position will be filled on a one or two year Visiting Scientist, or
Intergovernmental Personnel Act Assignment.
The Program Director for Linguistics coordinates the evaluation of
proposals, selects external and panel reviewers, manages advisory
panel meetings, and recommends and documents actions on the proposals.
The incumbent also handles administrative matters relating to active
NSF grants, maintains regular contact with the research community, and
provides advice to people requesting it.
Applicants must have a Ph.D. in linguistics or a related discipline,
and must be active in scientific research in some area of linguistics
or the language sciences. Six or more years of research experience
beyond the Ph.D. is required for appointment as Program Director. The
per annum salary range which includes a locality pay adjustment is
from $78,265 - $121,967 per annum depending on qualification and
experience, and is comparable with academic salaries at major U.S.
institutions.
