The University of Wolverhampton, School of Humanities, Languages and
Social Sciences invites applications for a Research Fellow in
Computational Linguistics. The successful candidate will work on an
ESRC-funded project whose objective is to develop an automatic system
which will create research databases automatically from web sites and
emailing lists using techniques from information extraction and NLP.
We are looking for candidates with good programming skills (Perl,
Java, or C) and familiarity with the Unix environment. Background in
Natural Language Processing, preferably with a PhD or comparable
research experience is desirable.Familiarity with / experience in
Information Extraction would be an advantage; as would familiarity
with machine learning techniques. The main roles of the new appointee
will be to develop and implement components of the system.
The successful candidate is expected to start the job on 6 January
2003 and the salary scale is that of researcher B (£17,624 - £22,948).
