LECTURESHIP IN PHILOSOPHY

The UEA Philosophy Sector is ranked among the top research and teaching
departments in the United Kingdom. Last year it was rated 5 in the RAE
and 24 in the QAA.
The Sector now seeks to appoint a full-time Lecturer to succeed Andreas
Dorschel, who has left to take up a Professorship at the University of
Graz. The successful candidate should have an established research
record and teaching experience.
Salary will be on the Lecturer B scale, from £26,270 (depending on
skills and experience). The appointment will start in September 2003.
Areas of research - open.
Areas of teaching competence - some preference may be given to a
candidate who can teach one or more of the following: moral philosophy,
philosophy of language, reasoning skills, logic, classical philosophy.
There will also be an opportunity for the lecturer to develop new
courses of their own.
The Lecturer will be expected to play an equal role in contributing to
administrative tasks within the Sector, School and University.
