PostDoc at the CogSci Gaduate School at the University of Osnabrueck
The Institute of Cognitive Science at the University of Osnabrueck
(Germany) seeks applicants for a three-year Postdoctoral position in
Cognitive Science starting in July 2002.
Funded by the German academic exchange program DAAD, the position
carries a salary according to scale BAT IIa between about (Euro)
37.000 and 45.000 p.a., depending on age and family status. The
primary responsibility will be the coordination of the newly-funded
doctoral program in Cognitive Science at the University of
Osnabrueck. In addition, the fellow will be expected to teach a single
graduate seminar each semester, conduct research in his or her field,
and to participate actively in the life of the department.
Applicants should have a Ph.D. in Cognitive Science or component
field, experience in graduate advising, and enthusiasm for the
field. They should be fluent in English and ideally also have some
knowledge of German.
The University of Osnabrueck has the only undergraduate program in
Cognitive Science in Germany, founded in 1998 as an international
Program. This rapidly-growing program has attracted over 80 students
annually from many countries over the last years. In 2001, we admitted
our first Masters students and in 2002 we expect to admit up to ten
Ph.D. candidates. Major areas of Cognitive Science research are
artificial intelligence, cognitive psychology, computer science,
(computational) linguistics, mathematics, neuroinformatics,
neurobiology, and philosophy. Languages of instruction are English and
German.
The University of Osnabrueck strives for an increase in the number of
