PhD opportunities in Speech Technology
Since last year we are building up a research activity in speech signal
processing at the department of Communications Engineering of the University
of Paderborn. Our research focusses on speech recognition for mobile devices.
We are particularly interested in robust hands-free speech recognition
algorithms with low computational and memory demands. Further, we look into
single- and multi-channel noise reduction techniques and their optimal
integration with the recognizer.
We are looking for an enthusiastic PhD student to support our activities. You
should have a university degree in Mathematics, Electrical Engineering or
Computer Science and you should have some background in statistical signal
processing and/or pattern recognition. Further, excellent programming skills
(C/C++) are required.
The University of Paderborn is a young and innovative research and teaching
site with well-known Computer Science and Engineering departments. The city
of Paderborn is located in a beautiful landscape which offers, among
others, plenty of hiking opportunities, e.g. in the nearby Sauerland and
Teuteburger Wald.
