LANGUAGE LOCALISATION TEAM <96> 20/20 Speech Ltd, UK
Having demonstrated advanced capabilities in English, we are now
recruiting a team to transfer our technology into other languages. The
Language Localisation Team will join a group of about 40 scientific and
software experts working in pleasant surroundings at the Malvern Hills
Science Park in Worcestershire.
LANGUAGE LOCALISATION TEAM LEADER
You will take the lead in building and managing the Language
Localisation Team for a number of non-English languages. Reporting to
the Chief Technology Officer, you will be responsible for the entire
process of transferring our existing technology to other languages. You
will need to plan work to tight time schedules, and will be responsible
for technology benchmarking and documentation. Although working
initially on Automatic Speech Recognition in German, your role will
eventually encompass our other speech technologies.
You will have a degree, be able to demonstrate good person management
and problem solving skills within a computer based high technology
environment, and have experience in controlling complex computer based
projects. A background in advanced speech technology, knowledge of
phonetics or linguistics, the ability to speak a foreign language or
advanced programming/scripting skills would also be an advantage.
GERMAN LANGUAGE EXPERT
You will be the key source of phonetic and linguistic expertise in the
team which will transfer 20/20 Speech technology into German. Reporting
to the Language Localisation Team Leader, you will be responsible for
specifying and applying phonetic and linguistic knowledge to our
technology, including providing information about the phonological
structure of German, directing the development of pronunciation
dictionaries and advising on other aspects of linguistic structure. You
will also be responsible for subsequent support of German speech
products.
You will be a native or near-native German speaker with an excellent
command of English and knowledge of the phonological structure of
German. You will be able to embrace new technologies and possess basic
computational skills. Experience in advanced speech technology, an
ability to program in a high level or scripting computer language or
linguistic data preparation skills would also be an advantage.
SPEECH TECHNOLOGISTS
You will play a crucial development role within the team which will
transfer 20/20 Speech technology to a variety of non-English languages.
Reporting to the Language Localisation Team Leader, you will be
responsible for analysing and manipulating speech data and other
linguistic information, building statistical models of each language at
a range of linguistic levels and assessing their performance in a
variety of applications.
You will have a degree in Science or Engineering, and an ability to
program in a scripting language (e.g. Perl or a Unix shell), and be able
to conduct computational experiments. Alternatively, there are posts
available for those with a phonetic or linguistic background, who are
able to program in C++.
For both these types of role you will also need good problem solving
skills and be able to work within tight deadlines. Experience in
developing speech technology, involvement in other pattern processing
technologies or a background in digital signal processing would also be
an advantage.
These posts are offered on a permanent basis.
Please send your CV to 20/20 via Email at vacancies@2020speech.com
