Senior or Principal Language Modelling Scientist for New Speech
Recognition System
We seek a senior or principal language modelling scientist for the
development of a new speech recognition system. This project is a
joint venture between Vox Generation, Europe's leader in spoken
dialogue systems, and SpeechWorks U.K. Ltd. Speech Recognition
Leader, Roberto Pieraccini and Natural Language Leader, Professor
Yorick Wilks collaborate and co-supervise the project with David
Horowitz, Chief Scientist at Vox Generation with a 22 year track
record in speech and language processing.
The project is part of a new European Initiative called FASiL, for
spoken language systems incorporated in a 3G multi-modal network.
This is an endeavour with Vox and SpeechWorks and 6 other leading
companies. The user interface research is being conducted at MIT's
affiliate, the Media Lab Europe. 40 scientists and engineers comprise
the project Consortium team. FASiL promises to usher in the most
advanced dialogue system the industry has seen. FASiL language
modelling is at the cutting edge, combining several explored
techniques for unified hierarchical language modelling with automatic
induction of grammars.
Requirements: Ph.D. (required) in language modelling for speech
recognition. Substantial publication record in language modelling for
speech recognition. Publications must be of high quality and be cited
in the literature. For Principal Scientist, 20+ years of experience
