The Katholieke Universiteit Leuven, Electrical Engineering department ESAT,
and the Vrije Universiteit Brussel, Electrical Engineering department ETRO,
announce three vacancies to perform research in collaboration with two major
industrial groups. The projects principal aim is to develop digital sound
management systems for optimal sound quality and intelligibility in variable
and possibly noisy listening conditions. Application cases focus on mobile
telephony and public address.

The successful candidates should preferably be young persons with good
technical skills (digital signal processing, programming, speech and audio
technology.) and a keen mind for academic and applied research.

We offer a pleasant and dynamic research environment and a competitive
salary. The positions are for three years each, starting September 2002, and
can possibly be extended. The research subjects qualify as partial
fulfillment for a Ph.D. degree.
