Speech Research Positions

Toshiba's Cambridge Research Laboratory, UK, has recently
extended its activities to include speech recognition and
text-to-speech synthesis. The new Speech Technology Group
(STG) will create innovative algorithms for speech synthesis
and recognition with an emphasis on embedded and future
communications technologies for European languages.

Research Engineer
-----------------
Developing speech technology for European languages, this
role will include analysing speech data, training statistical
models, and running performance assessments. Candidates should
have a good honours degree in Engineering or Computer Science.
Ideally, candidates will have a higher degree in speech
processing and one to two years work experience. A good knowledge
of C/C++ and European language skills would be an advantage, as
would experience in robust speech recognition, speaker adaptation
and/or state-of-the-art speech technology.
Phonetician/Computational Linguist
----------------------------------
This role will involve pronunciation modelling for speech
synthesis and speech recognition for multiple European
languages. Candidates should have a good honours degree in
Computational Linguistics with a specialism in phonetics.
Ideally, candidates will have a higher degree in a relevant
subject and one to two years work experience. You should be
fluent in at least two of the following European languages:
Dutch, French, German, Italian, Spanish. Practical experience
in speech processing, a good knowledge of C/C++ and scripting
languages would be an advantage.
The successful candidates will be practically-minded, innovative,
and will be able to interact effectively within a group
