Canon Research Centre Europe (CRE) has a position for a top quality
researcher in Natural Language Processing (J32)
Overview
You will be working as part of a successful, growing group that investigates
and develops advanced information retrieval/natural language technologies
for Canon products. You will also play a key role in advancing the research
and development programme of the group, and will contribute to a variety of
projects. You will have sound knowledge of natural language processing and
its application to information retrieval and document analysis.
Job Specification
To perform research and development of natural language processing
techniques to support advanced information retrieval, user interfaces and
document analysis.
To develop and initiate first class research in one or more of these areas:
question & answering, text summarization, information extraction, text
generation.
Requirements
First class technical background: MSc or PhD, or equivalent level of
experience, in natural language processing, information retrieval, or
closely related discipline.
Proven track record of initiating and developing research projects.
Desire to work with internal or external customers.
Good software engineering skills in a variety of programming languages,
particularly C++ or Java.
Desirable
Expertise in the areas of:
* Multilingual information systems
* Document markup languages
* Statistical information processing
* Corpus analysis and lexical resource creation
Experience of full project life cycle and product-level software
development.
Proven publication record.
