JOB DESCRIPTION
Grade:
ICT Specialist
Reporting to:
Director of ICT
Job Summary:
To provide services to the Institute s clients, i.e. full-time
students, part-time students, Businesses and Communities.
Academic: Imparting knowledge on the relevant courses to students to
enable them to achieve the required academic standards
Services Provision: Bringing the skills, knowledge, expertise and the
operational resources of the Institute into the community to promote
sustainable rural development and business development.
Location: Clonmel and Thurles However the proposed outreach strategy
of the Institute will require you to spend a significant portion of
your time liasing with clients off-campus
Responsibilities:
(a) Academic
Teaching such assigned classes, day and evening, for as many hours and
over such periods as may be required Carrying out assessment and
monitoring of examination work, engaging in course development and
providing professional support to students in their learning
activities Participating in teams appropriate to courses Engaging in
research, consultancy and development work as appropriate Providing
regular management information and status reports as required by
management in a professional context Participating in appropriate
activities necessary for the furtherance of the Institute Student
Placement and Projects Driving the integration of student placement
and projects into the planning and delivery of academic Programmes
Directing research projects of students
(b) Services Provision
Providing services as assigned by the Director of ICT; this will
involve the provision of services within the specialist area of
competence in order to contribute to the social and/or economic
development of businesses and communities Liasing with Businesses and
Communities Identifying Business and Community development needs
Developing agreed training programmes and related services to meet
those needs Contributing to the completion of programmes Providing
outreach services as determined by the Director in accordance with the
mission of TRBDI Drawing on experience in the academic course
development, student placement, research and other assignments to
continually improve and refine the services being offered Managing the
student placements and the relationship between the host
community/organisation/business and the Institute Contributing to the
business development of the Institute
CANDIDATE PROFILE
Qualifications:
An Honours Degree in the relevant subject area
An equivalent professional qualification Together with a minimum of
three years experience obtained in a balanced combination in
education, business and/or community development as appropriate to the
needs of the post
