SENIOR Database Administrator

Reporting to the Information Technology Manager, the functions and
responsibilities of this key role, including the normal duties a
Senior DBA position encompasses, will include:

* Development of strategies and procedures for disaster recovery, SLA's, and
security
* To participate in related Automation projects including implementation
* Liaise with System / Network Administrator as required in relation to
Oracle/SQL Server.
* Liaise with other AKZO NOBEL companies as required in relation to
Oracle/SQL Server.
* Selection and implementation of software to facilitate DBA role
* Development of strategies and procedures to tune existing and future
Oracle/SQL Server databases

The successful candidate will work as a team player with an existing
DBA and provide skills/knowledge transfer to same. Applicants should
possess a third level qualification in an IT discipline with a minimum
of 4 years experience in a full time administration role with Oracle
databases and SQL Server on NT/W2K platforms. Attendance on Oracle DBA
related training courses and/or OCP certification would be a distinct
advantage.

Applicants should note that O(I)L where possible avoids in-house
development and prefers to buy off-the-shelf solutions. In line with
this policy the typical developer role is usually managed by an
information analyst.
