> JOB DESCRIPTION: SENIOR ENGLISH TO FRENCH TRANSLATOR

> 1.SUMMARY OF JOB DESCRIPTION
> To deliver high quality translations for technical text (English to
> French), in accordance with pre-defined standards and within agreed
> timeframes. Co-ordinate the translation team and uphold language quality.
>
> 2.RESPONSIBILITIES
> * Translate software/on-line/printed documentation using appropriate
> tools and conforming to established processes and conventions.
> * Write documentation to support the translation process.
> * Edit and proofread translated material.
> * Propose terminology updates
> * Create and maintain glossaries
> * Responsible for file hand-offs to the Project Manager/client
> * Evaluate translation tools
> * Track the progress of the translation and provide status reports to
> the Project Manager/client on a regular basis. Advise as early as possible
> on any potential difficulties/issues with the translation.
> * Co-ordinate the translation team (allocating files, centralisation
> of the terminology, answering questions, upholding translation quality
> etc.)
> * On occasion act as linguistic consultant to other projects
>
> 3.REQUIREMENTS
> * Third level qualification in Translation/Language/Computational
> Linguistics
> * Two years experience in translation, ideally in technical field
> * Technical skills and technical writing skills
> * Experience in using translation tools eg. TM, Trados
> * Proofreading skills
> * Ability and interest in learning new products/tools
> * Strong communication skills, both written and oral are required - a
> good command of the English language is essential.
