Institute for Intelligent Systems (IIS) and Department of Psychology
at the University of Memphis invite applications for a permanent,
state-appropriated tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor
level in computational and corpus linguistics. Candidates should have
a strong record of research accomplishment, a commitment to
undergraduate and graduate teaching, and a goal of obtaining external
funding. Researchers are encouraged to apply if they conduct research
on computational models of natural language processing, on statistical
analyzes of large corpora of text samples, or on the integration of
these analytical methods with investigations of psychological
mechanisms.
The IIS is an interdisciplinary program that includes faculty in
Psychology, Computer Science, Statistics, Physics, Engineering and
other fields that investigate intelligent systems in humans and
computers. The Psychology Department currently employs 32 full-time
faculty and offers Ph.D. degrees in clinical psychology, in school
psychology, and in experimental psychology.
Evaluations of candidates will begin on December 2, 2002 but
applications will be considered until the position is filled. Send
