ASSISTANT PROFESSOR, COMPUTATIONAL LINGUISTICS

Assistant Professor of Cognitive Science and Linguistics:
Computational Linguistics tenure-track position to begin fall, 2003. The
ideal candidate should have a Ph.D. in Linguistics or Computer Science and
be familiar with practical Natural Language Processing applications; some
industry experience is desirable. Candidates with interdisciplinary
interests are especially encouraged to apply. Familiarity with both
statistical and formal methods is essential. Possible specializations
include: machine translation; speech recognition and synthesis;
computational syntax and/or semantics; automated understanding,
acquisition, and extraction of knowledge from natural language; dialog
processing; natural language interfaces; text generation and analysis;
neural and cognitive modeling. The new hire will be expected to further
develop the recently established computational linguistics M.A. track
within the Linguistics Department, to teach its courses on a regular
basis, and to serve as a core faculty member of the Program in Cognitive
