Wayne State University. The Linguistics Program is seeking to fill a
one-year postdoctoral position (which may be extended for a half year)
for a field linguist with recent field experience for the 2003-2004
academic year in conjunction with NSF Behavioral and Cognitive
Infrastructure Grant #0094934 entitled Electronic Metastructure for
Endangered Languages Data (http://www.linguistlist.org/emeld).
Priority will be given to those applicants whose work has been on an
endangered language or languages.
The goal of the project is to develop standards for the digitization
of language data. The primary responsibility of the successful
candidate will be to participate as a member of the grant team, and,
to that end, contribute data and help the team adapt the database
under development to the requirements of his or her field materials.
This individual will also be expected to teach one class each semester
of the appointment, one of which will be Field Methods. Interviews
will be held at the 2003 LSA meeting in Atlanta.
