POSTGRADUATE AWARDS 2003 at MIC, University of Limerick, Ireland
Financial support structures at Mary Immaculate College include a doctoral
award (PhD in Arts and Education), studentships and assistantships. These
are available on a competitive basis and at the discretion of the College.
Typically, awards provide a subsistence bursary for the normal registration
period of benefiting students, and in some cases also off-set tuition fees.
The MIC Doctoral Award
One award to last three years, annually.
The decision to award the MIC Doctoral Award (EUR12,700 pa) to a doctoral
student is based on an evaluation of their academic merit and their
potential for scholarship.
Studentships
Two awards annually.
A Studentship Award entitles the holder to a fee waiver and a subsistence
bursary of EUR6,000 pa.
Teaching Assistantships
Each department / subject area is entitled to award up to three Teaching
Assistantships over two years. These can be offered to postgraduate
students of the department who are prepared to participate in departmental
activities (tutorial / seminar / laboratory / field work / course work
marking etc.) for a maximum of 130 hours in the academic year. The
appropriate activity is determined by Department Heads / Course Leaders and
Supervisors. A Teaching Assistantship entitles the student to a fee waiver
and a subsistence bursary of EUR6,000 pa for the work done in the
Department.
