Dialogue Consultant

New/existing position: New Contract/permanent position: Permanent

Job Purpose

To take a lead role in developing spoken dialogue applications,
both reusable products and customer-specific solutions, in line
with the Vocalis product roadmap and the needs of its customers.

Report to Dialogue Group Manager

Responsibilities

1. Assist the Dialogue Group Manager in co-ordinating the
activities of the Group. 2. Take responsibility for managing the
dialogue aspect of Vocalis' projects. 3. Design, implement and
test spoken dialogue components and supporting software to
satisfy the needs of the product roadmap 4. Design, implement and
test spoken dialogue solutions in line with specific customer
requirements 5. Communicate with customers and visit customer
sites, possibly for extended periods, to elicit requirements for
dialogue solutions 6. Plan and carry out evaluation exercises to
determine best practice for dialogue applications 7. Communicate
to the rest of the company the technical achievements and
difficulties experienced within the Dialogue Group 8. Undertake
additional responsibilities when appropriate

Success criteria

Measured by achievement of personal objectives, via an ongoing
process of appraisal and interim/formal reviews.

Internal/External relationships 1. Report to Dialogue Group
Manager as specified in objectives 2. Liaise closely with Product
Management Group on all product issues 3. Liaise with Consultancy
teams on customer solution development 4. Communicate directly
with customers on dialogue issues

Education and Professional qualifications requirements

Essential Bachelor's degree in a relevant technical discipline
(2:1)

Desirable MSc or other technical qualifications

Experience and knowledge requirements

ESSENTIAL 1. Minimum of 12 months experience of spoken dialogue
design 2. 2-3 years software development skills in C/C++ 3. Track
record of people management, mentoring, coaching in a company
environment 4. 2-3 years experience of the Windows operating
system 5. 2-3 years commercial software development 6. 2-3 years
experience in a customer-facing role and delivery of solutions to
end customers 7. 2-3 years project management experience 8.
Proficient working knowledge of MS Project or similar tools

DESIRABLE 1. Knowledge of human factors, particularly in relation
to spoken interface design 2. Experience of the Envox Studio IVR
toolkit 3. Knowledge of VXML, SALT and other emerging dialogue
languages 4. Familiarity with speech recognition technology

ESSENTIAL 1. Proven experience with successfully working
independently or as part of a team, as necessary 2. Excellent
customer communication skills in order to elicit their
requirements 3. Good inter-personal skills 4. Motivated to meet
deadlines and deliver to clients requirements 5. Problem-solving

assertive

Special working conditions

Must be willing to work on-site (at customer premises).

Salary

Negotiable on skills and experience.
