RESEARCH ASSISTANT

Division/Program: LEAD/Sheltered Instruction and Newcomer projects

Hours: Full or part time (up to 35 hrs/wk)=20

Salary: low to upper $30Ks FTE per annum depending upon qualifications

Position Available: January 2003

Description of Duties:

Provide research assistance to the Division Director and Project =
Coordinator on the sheltered instruction, newcomer programs, adolescent =
literacy development, teacher development, and other areas related to =
English language learners and their teachers at pre K-12. Conduct =
professional development programs.

Primary Responsibilities will include but not be limited to:=20

=3D> Assistance in planning, coordination and implementation of research =
and professional development projects=20
=3D> Collection, and analysis of data=20
=3D> Assistance in writing, production and dissemination of reports, =
conference proceedings, papers, articles and other products through a =
variety of media=20
=3D> Presentations at workshops and conferences=20
=3D> Maintenance of project files=20
=3D> Correspondence with co-researchers, project teachers, and other as =
needed=20

Qualifications:

Education: M.A. Degree in language related field

Experience: Research and professional development experience required. =
Need familiarity/experience with US elementary and/or secondary schools. =
Must have good writing and organizational skills, Excel database skills, =
and be able to work independently. Macintosh word processing skills =
preferred.=20

NOTE: Some travel may be required.=20
