Two research positions associated with the new European Commission Framework 6
integrated project AMI (http://www.amiproject.org) are available at the
University of Sheffield, UK.

AMI targets computer-enhanced multi-modal interaction in the context of
meetings. The project aims at substantially advancing the state-of-the-art
within underpinning technologies such as human-human communication
modelling, speech recognition, computer vision, multimedia indexing and
retrieval.

AMI is currently negotiating its contract and the posts will be available from
the project start date, expected to be in December 2003 or January 2004. They
will have an initial fixed duration of three years.

Post 1 (Ref. No. PR906, full details on http://jobs.ac.uk/jobfiles/PH823.html)
will be for a full-time post-doctoral level researcher to work with Professor
Steve Whittaker of the Department of Information Studies on user requirements,
design and evaluation of interfaces for multimedia browsing.

Post 2 (Ref. No. PR907, full details on http://jobs.ac.uk/jobfiles/PH824.html)
will be for a part-time doctoral-level researcher to work with Professor Phil
Green of the Department of Computer Science on robust recognition and scene
analysis. The successful candidate will be expected to enrol for a PhD.
