Three Postdoctoral Research positions and two Postgraduate Research
studentships (leading to a PhD) are available in the Department of
Computer Science, the University of Liverpool, UK, to work on the new
European Commission Framework VI Integrated Project "PIPS" (Personalised
Platform for Life and Health Services), addressing the e-Health priority.


Research in Liverpool will contribute to the creation of a virtual
multi-agent environment for providing contextualised and personalised
information to various stakeholders in the "Health and Life" chain, and
will involve investigation in three main areas of research:

1 - Multi-Agent Systems,
2 - Argumentative Dialogue/Discourse Modelling and
3 - Ontologies and Semantic Web.

The positions are full time, starting anytime after January 2004
(more details below).

The successful applicants will join the internationally recognised
Agent ART research group (http://www.csc.liv.ac.uk/research/agents/).


Research Positions:
-------------------
Candidates should (be about to) have a PhD with a strong emphasis in one
of the areas outlined above. Some medical informatics background would be
beneficial, but it is not essential.

Salary will be in the range =A318,265 - =A325,451 pa (under review), depending
on qualifications and experience. The positions are tenable for up to FOUR
years.

Studentships:
-------------
Candidates should have a good first degree, and preferably a Master, in
Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, or related disciplines.

Successful candidates will, subject to satisfactory annual review, be paid
a maintenance bursary of =A39,000 pa (under review) tax free, and have their
fees paid.
