The University of Central Lancashire is advertising for a Lecturer in
English Language & Linguistics, in particular someone who can teach a
range of modules in the area of discourse and conversation and whose
research is within the area of English linguistics. It's a permanent
position, with advertised salary GBP 22,191--27,669.
An experienced Lecturer, with a PhD in Linguistics and evidence of
current research activity, you will look forward to the wide
responsibility this role can offer. Not only is there a strong
teaching element, but an involvement in research and development and
commercial activity will also be required.
You will be able to teach at least two of the following at level 1:
Sentence Analysis, semantics or phonetics. In addition you will be
able to teach modules in discourse and communication at levels 2 and
3, in areas such as: conversation analysis, media discourse and
semiotics or popular culture.
Preferably with a teaching qualification, your excellent communication
skills and enthusiasm for your subject will enhance the learning
experience for students who come from a variety of educational
backgrounds. In addition, you will undertake other duties commensurate
with the post such as acting as personal tutor to some students and
fulfilling the necessary administrative requirements.
