The Secondary Education Department at the University of South Florida
is seeking an ESOL / foreign language educator for appointment to a
tenure track position, effective August 7, 2004.

Rank: Assistant Professor.

Responsibilities: Teach ESOL methods courses for elementary and
secondary pre-service teachers; teach advanced graduate level courses
in the field of second language acquisition, ESOL, and CALL;
coordinate ESOL courses; supervise interns; engage in research,
publication and the professional affairs of organizations appropriate
to the discipline; advise students; actively participate in the life
of the Ph.D. program in Second Language Acquisition and Instructional
Technology; engage in collaborative relations with schools and
districts; participate in program management and governance in the
department, college and university.

Qualifications:
Required-- Doctorate in TESOL, foreign language education, second
language acquisition, or closely related field; excellent
communication skills in English; proficiency in at least one foreign
language; successful ESOL teaching experience in K-12; demonstrated
expertise with contemporary instructional technologies and CALL;
research activity which indicates systematic inquiry and scholarship;
successful college level teaching experience; involvement in the
affairs of appropriate professional organizations.

Preferred-- Special consideration will be given to candidates who have
prior university experience at the assistant professor rank, who have
experience in coordinating ESOL programs, are familiar with ESOL
infusion, and are proficient in Spanish. Candidates should be
qualified to prepare pre-service teachers for multicultural /
multilingual classrooms including the needs of English Language
Learning (ELL) students, who have experience with distance learning,
who are interested in interdisciplinary teaching innovations with
other subject areas and who show evidence of collaborative abilities.

Salary: Negotiable, with summer appointment possible. Salary
competitive depending upon training and experience
