Title: Research Associate

Description:
Work as part of a small team conducting commercial research with a
view to releasing a product in the near future. The product in
question is designed to perform a specialised type of text
categorisation which currently is not available in any commercial
software. This research is at the cutting-edge of academia; the
problem we are trying to solve has not yet been effectively addressed =
in any
published paper.
More detail of the research in question will be available to
candidates selected for interview.
Qualifications:
MPhil or higher in a relevant branch of computer science or
engineering. Good knowledge and experience in: machine learning, text
categorisation and NLP. Strong programming skills (must be able to
program experiments on their own). High level of competence in
mathematics. Knowledge of speech recognition and probabilistic
language models a bonus.
The successful candidate will be a self-starter, accustomed to
research and designing their own experiments, and capable of working
with little supervision. They will have a strong interest in text
categorisation and capable of locating and assimilating all relevant
pervious work in the field. Ideally, they will already possess a work
permit for the UK (EU).
