The University of Memphis invites applications for postdoctoral research
positions in the Institute for Intelligent Systems. Two positions are
available to work on a project investigating the use of an intelligent
tutoring system (iSTART) to deliver reading strategy instruction.

The project is funded by the Institute of Education Sciences for three years
to expand iSTART and to conduct experiments investigating the effects of
strategy instruction. A Ph.D. in cognitive psychology, education, or a
related field is required. The successful candidate should also have
demonstrated interests and experience in one or more of the following areas:
comprehension, reading comprehension strategies, learning from text,
individual difference measures, student modeling, intelligent tutoring
systems, verbal protocol analysis, and educational applications. The
applicant should have experience conducting empirical research including
data management and advanced statistical analyses. Application review will
begin November 1, 2005, and continue until the positions are filled.
Positions will begin in the spring or fall of 2005.
