The aim of this ONR-funded project is to create a toolset to aid in the
development of a wide-coverage parser for deep parsing and semantic
interpretation. You will develop tools to facilitate extensions to the lexicon
based on existing wide-coverage dictionaries, and devise algorithms for
efficient parsing and robust interpretation. Ideally you will have skills in
grammar development, lexical semantics, and semantic interpretation. Knowledge
of NLU and parsing technologies is essential. Experience in statistical parsing
techniques is desirable. Good programming skills in Lisp, Java, Perl, and
experience with XML are also highly desirable.
The appointment has an initial fixed duration of up to 3 years, with
opportunities for continuation, and is expected to start January 1st 2005, or
shortly thereafter. Salary Scale: GBP 19,460 to 29,128
