Index of February 2004 | Index of year: 2004 | Full index
In September of this year, the university of Leuven is launching an MA in
cognitive linguistics.
The programme we offer in Leuven is the option Cognitive and Functional
Linguistics of a broader interuniversity Master in Linguistics, organized
in cooperation with the universities of Ghent, Antwerp, and Brussels. It's
a one-year programme. The specific courses that students can follow within
the option Cognitive and Functional Linguistics as organized in Leuven
comprise the following:
- Comparison of cognitive and functional theories (Jan Nuyts)
- Cognitive-functional approaches to grammar (Kristin Davidse)
- Cognitive-functional approaches to text linguistics (Anne-Marie Vandenbergen)
- Cognitive-functional approaches lexical semantics (Dirk Geeraerts)
- Cognitive-functional approach to diachronic linguistics (Hubert Cuyckens)
- Methodology of corpus linguistics (Dirk Geeraerts / Dirk Speelman)
From this list, students will have to take 4 courses. Further, there is an
intensive course in the second semester (the topic of next year's intensive
course will be determined later), plus an MA paper that students will be
required to write and that is intended to link up closely with their
personal research interests.
Anybody interested may contact me ( dirk.geeraerts@arts.kuleuven.ac.be )
for further details.
With best wishes,
Dirk Geeraerts
