The Faculty of Arts at Tilburg University (The Netherlands), in particular
the Communication and Cognition Group announces two tenure track positions
at the assistant professor level.
TWO TENURE TRACK POSITIONS AT THE ASSISTANT
PROFESSOR LEVEL (vac. no. 810.04.03)
Main tasks
Candidates are expected to
* Teach courses in the programme Business
Communication and Digital Media (for a survey, see
www.tilburguniversity.nl/faculties/flw/education/).
* Participate in the research programme "Multimodality & Cognition" of
the Communication and Cognition Group. This programme is focused on the
cognitive and social ramifications of using multimodal and digital
communication. See for a description of the programme

* Develop and supervise bachelors and master's thesis research related to
this research programme.
* Use computer-based and collaborative facilities for
teaching and instruction.
* Execute managerial and administrative tasks.
Requirements
* We are inviting applications from candidates with one of the following
two profiles:
* Expertise in the field of the processing, the use and the design of
multimodal, digital communication. Strong preference for a
candidate with a PhD in one of the following disciplines: (cognitive)
linguistics, discourse studies, language and information science,
communication studies, cognitive science, (cognitive, perception or
educational) psychology.
* Expertise in the field of social, cultural and organisational aspects of
digital and multimodal communication (management, implementation,
(inter)cultural aspects in organisations). Strong preference for a candidate
with a PhD in one of the following disciplines: business
communication, communication studies, information management, information
sciences, social psychology, organisation studies, cultural
anthropology.
* Experienced in experimental research in the field of multimodal discourse,
communication and digital media.
* Strong affinity and familiarity with recent developments in the field of
digital media.
* Broad deployability in instructional and organizational
tasks.
* Demonstrable didactic qualities.
Salary
The collective labour agreement of Tilburg University applies. Pay
classification is according to level of experience and expertise, with a
minimum of 2.934,-- euro per month (salary scale 11) with a possible
upgrade to scale 12.
Furthermore, the usual facilities (desk, computer, some travel money) are
offered, as well as support with housing, immigrations, etc.
