We are seeking an Instructor in TESL/Applied Linguistics (English
Language and Linguistics)

English, Instructor, for one academic year (August 19, 2004--May 12,
2005), to replace faculty on sabbatical. Duties will include teaching
three courses per semester such as introductory linguistics and
grammar classes designed for undergraduates, and introductory graduate
courses in English grammar and linguistics in the MA-TESL program at
Northern Arizona University. Depending on enrollment, there is also
likely to be an opportunity to offer one graduate course in the area
of the applicant's area of specialization.

Minimum qualifications include a Ph.D. in a field relevant to the area
of expertise required for the position described, and demonstrated
experience in teaching general linguistics, English grammar and usage.

Preference will be given to individuals who have taught undergraduate
and graduate courses in English language and general linguistics at a
university program with an approach and objectives consistent with
those of the NAU English Department. Preference will also be given to
candidates who indicate ability to supervise teaching assistants. The
successful candidate will also ideally have demonstrated experience
working with a diverse student population.
