The Department of Linguistics and Philosophy's KIT/MIT MEG Joint
Research Lab at MIT is looking to fill a full-time Research
Assistant/Lab Manager position. Starting date is negotiable, but June
or July 2004 is preferred. The position is for a one year initial
appointment, with the possibility of extension beyond that time.
Salary is competitive, with benefits included. The position would be
ideal for a person with a BA/SB or MA/SM degree who is interested in
gaining significant research experience in a brain monitoring lab.

The successful applicant will take a leading role in research on the
cognitive neuroscience of language. S/he person will be involved in
all aspects of the design, testing and analysis of studies of language
perception in adults and children, using behavioral measures and MEG
brain recordings (training provided). Oversight responsibility for the
MEG Lab would be among the expected duties. The research spans the
phonological, syntactic and semantic levels, with particular emphasis
on phonetics and morphology. Previous experience in linguistics and/or
psycholinguistics is preferred. The ability to interact comfortably
with a wide variety of people (and computer programs) is a distinct

The KIT/MIT/MEG Joint Research Lab houses a 160 sensor MEG machine
from Eagle Technology & the Kanazawa Institute of Technology. Used by
academic researchers from around the Boston area, the MEG facility is
primarily exploited by linguistics faculty study normal language
processing in a variety of languages as well as dyslexia in children
and adults.
