Computational Linguistics

Faculty of Mathematics and Computing

Based in Milton Keynes



The recently inaugurated Centre for Research in Computing (CRC) at the Open University has various positions to work on the following topics from the perspective of Natural Language Generation: paraphrasing, report generation, query interfaces, ontology development, knowledge formation. This work will be applied to areas such as electronic health records, e-learning environments, the semantic web and information extraction.



For the Postdoctoral position you will have a PhD in Computational Linguistics, Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence or Linguistics. You will also have experience in the following areas: decision-support systems, affect in language, discourse structure, document structure, summarisation from data, referring expression generation, semantic web and information extraction. A proven record of publications and good programming skills would be advantageous.



For the Programmer position you will have strong programming experience, with a BSc or MSc in computer science or artificial intelligence, and experience in Java.



For the PhD place you will have a good honours degree in Computational Linguistics, Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence or Linguistics.
