The Institute of Cognitive Science at the University of Osnabrueck (Germany)
seeks applicants for a two-year Postdoctoral position. The position, carrying a
salary according to scale BAT IIa, is embedded in the project "The Modeling of
Predictive Analogies with Heuristic-Driven Theory Projection" funded by the DFG
(German Research Foundation).
The goal of the research project is to develop models for analogical reasoning
and metaphorical expressions that can be implemented on machines. The complete
spectrum of the analysis of analogical inferences and metaphorical expressions -
ranging from the logical specification and the development of a denotational
semantics to the implementation of algorithms and machine learning procedures -
are covered by the project.
Applicants should have a PhD degree and should additionally fulfil the following
requirements
- Knowledge in logic, algebra, and complexity theory
- Knowledge in the semantics of natural language
- Knowledge in the development of algorithms
- Practical knowledge in at least one of the following programming languages:
Prolog, Java, or ML
The University of Osnabrueck strives for an increase in the number of women in
