Job Title: Systems Administrator
Division/Program: Language and Culture Resources (LCR) Computer Services
Hours per week: 35 hours per week (full time)
Salary: $40,000 to $45,000 FTE per annum, depending upon qualifications
Position Available: Immediately
DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES: To provide computer support for CAL's staff and consultants. Installs, configures, and maintains the organization's LAN server and workstations. Manages performance and maintains security of LANs. Works with multiple hardware and software platforms at an intermediate level. Manages CAL's help desk function.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Help Desk
Respond to requests for general computer hardware and software assistance and maintain a central database of computer support requests, problems, and solutions through HelpDesk software
Ensure that CAL's HelpDesk software is running smoothly and that files and archives are maintained
Perform support and troubleshooting of computer hardware and software
Perform routine computer and network maintenance and back-up tasks
Systems Administration
Maintain a library of software documentation, records of hardware and software, and other computer resources
Maintain user accounts
Maintain and prepare (computer and non-computer) equipment for onsite and offsite use and provide support 1) for use of such equipment in meetings, conferences, and seminars and 2) for checkout by CAL staff and consultants - laptops, presentation equipment, scanner, color printer, camcorder
Work with (and as appropriate help CAL staff work with) software applications
Maintain CAL's network file system and help CAL staff organize and archive older files
Work with CS consultants to resolve network configuration issues
Maintain network security and backup systems
Install, configure, and maintain the organization's LAN server and workstations.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Requires an Associate or Bachelors Degree in Information Systems and two to five years relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of technical training and experience.
Experience: Must have experience in networking Microsoft Windows Operating System, working with MS Windows XP, and Exchange server. Must have experience in the following: SQL, Microsoft Office programs, WI-FI (wireless networks), multi media, and Web technologies including Perl, HTML, JAVA, PHP, and ASP. Excellent ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks is important. Ability to develop concepts into working technical solutions, to develop detailed project plans, and to implement projects from conception through implementation and evaluation is required.
